Madman Entertainment is Australia’s biggest independent film and television distributor - creating, licensing and distributing content on disc, into cinemas and to film festivals, digital platforms, TV channels and VOD services nationally. We’re passionate about special interest content like anime, documentaries, indie and Australian films and collectable TV series.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our Melbourne-based I.T. team as an all-rounder Full Stack Engineer. This is an awesome opportunity to be a part of the film & entertainment industry and work with amazing people across the business through maintaining and supporting our in-house systems and online experiences. As a Full Stack Engineer, your responsibilities will be to:

  • Develop and drive improvements to our Product Information and Asset Management systems.
  • Provide ongoing support and maintenance to our Madman e-commerce and marketing websites
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, and other members of the web and software team to deliver solutions and meet business requirements
  • Work with our Cloud Engineer to support our systems migration to AWS

Our ideal candidate will have:                                    

  • BS/MS in Computer Science (or equivalent), or minimum 5 years of full stack development
  • Hands on experience with CSS, JavaScript and MVC frameworks
  • Backend development experience in Java, JSP or similar
  • Demonstrated knowledge in building SQL queries and working with relational databases such as MySQL
  • Experience working with RESTful web services
  • Third party APIs and libraries integration experience
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies
  • Strong communication and creative problem-solving skills
  • Experience with video encoding, codecs, or video workflows
  • Experience with Amazon AWS’s EC2, S3, RDS (Nice to have)
  • Knowledge of maintaining legacy systems
